Beyond Mat:Tadasana

 


Tadasana or Mountain Pose is a simple post that anyone can do provided they able to stand erect to achieve the best result. It is a standing asana where feet kept together and hands at the sides of the body. Also, this is the basic or starting pose for other poses such as trikonasana or tree pose. This pose is usually performed at the beginning and end of Surya Namaskar or Sun Salutation. Tadasana is not exempted for having it benefits as other poses too as listed below:
  • correcting posture and improves your balance by making your spine more agile
  • increasing the flexibility of ankles, thighs and joints
  • tone hips and abdomen
  • gain better control over muscular movements
  • increases height if practised regularly at formative years
  • strengthen the nervous system, respiratory and digestive

Tadasana is extremely simple to perform with good control over inhalation and exhalation. The steps are outlined below:
  1. Stand erect with hands hanging the sides and feet together
  2. Inhale and lift your hands to interlock on top of the head
  3. Also, continuously stand on toes
  4. Remain at this pose for 10seconds
  5. Then exhale while relating from this pose
  6. you may repeat this pose for 10 cycles
This pose is not advised for those who suffer from insomnia, high or low blood pressure and migraine. A pregnant mother may perform this with precautions and never forcefully stretch.
