Mastering Life's Mystery:Fasting During Ramadan


Ramadan is an auspicious month , begin with fasting for one month and ends with Eid Al Fitr festival. This festival is celebrated by all Muslim members throughout the world once a year. Fasting is an essential component of Ramadan, strict regulations observed upon food intake and abstaining from smoking and sexual activity. Also, right ethics and moral code required throughout fasting month to achieve its maximum benefit. Various religious activities and prayers are in motion during this period as they believed as the golden month gifted to the humankind to achieve their purpose of life. In addition, fasting is one of the five pillars of Muslim including the testimony of faith, charity, prayer and making a pilgrimage to Mecca.

        Muslims observe complete abstinence from food, smoking and sexual activities from dawn to sunsets. The fasting time differ among regions, will be decided by the authority based on local time. Few exceptionals about fasting are pregnant women, children, menstruating women, elderlies and very ill patients , Pregnant women are obligated to replace the skipped fasting days after delivery, similarly, women who menstruate during fasting period also required to replace the skipped days.
Fasting is not all about refraining or limiting from food intake but following the right codes and ethics of life too. Misconducts and torturing other living may impact these auspicious rituals severely to the extent of not getting God's forgiveness. When fasting is not a personal decision but it offers various benefits . Many perceive fasting as a detoxication process aim to flush all the toxins in the body and helps to rejuvenate the body system. Moreover, it helps to regulate certain health condition too such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity and many others. Sufficient time is given during this one month for body to gear up and smoothen the system. Apart from bodily benefit, fasting also creates social interactions where good opportunity created to share meals with friends, family members and whoever needed. Present modern ambience drew a huge shutter for family values which possibly shattered with this beautiful doorway.

       Mother, wife and sisters actively participate for cooking various dishes to delight this fasting month. They rise early in the morning to prepare meals to begin fasting , similarly another bout of cooking for breaking fast. It may seem tiring and hassle at times but the satisfaction and
encouragement matter most. Some may choose to outsource from restaurants or bazaar. Baazar is a setup of several hawkers food shops in a location which offers varieties of choices to break fast. Another perspective of Baazar is supporting small, local vendors so they will enjoy equal happiness from their earnings during Ramadan. Many will venture into this small business to deliver their hand goods. Muslims literally prefer breaking fast with dates and sip of water before tasting other deliciousness. Dates are easily digested , source of nutrients and quickly resume the blood glucose after a long day of fasting. One can find all types and qualities of dates marketed during Ramadan.
        Apart from religious obligation, every Muslim devoted their time, space and money to celebrate Ramadan heartfully. Eid Al Fitr is the most awaited day after one month of fasting, the day to welcome fulfilment with friends and family.
