Mastering Life's Mystery:Moon Cake Festival.

Living in Malaysia allows us to experience the different festivals and cultural activities of each and every race. Mooncake festival also is known as the Mid Autumn Festival celebrated during the end of September or early October every year by the Chinese friends all over the world. The joy of purchasing various types of mooncakes, organize family gatherings and holding brightly lit laterns are the primary agenda of this festival.

The history of this festival date back to the Zhou Dynasty where the ancient emperors worship moon for the great harvest, which was during mid-autumn.
However, mooncake became part of Chinese custom during Yuan Dynasty where they would stuff messages into the mooncakes and send to the Mongolians, who were at the point the rulers of the country. Mooncake shape which is round symbolizes completeness and togetherness. Hence, a full moon symbolizes prosperity and reunion for the whole family. Round mooncakes complement the harvest moon in the night sky at the Mid Autumn Festival.

Mooncake is a rich thick filling of red bean or lotus seed paste surrounded by a thin crust and contains yolks from salted duck eggs. It flourishes well when taken in small wedges with a cup of hot tea. Generally, it is expensive during this festival despite the ingredients are not costly. It is preferred desserts to share with friends and family during this festival. Let's wait for the mooncake this September!
