COVID 19 pandemic changed everything including human's activities, adaptation and survival pattern. People learned and choose to set a standard code to aid their daily living despite this pandemic remain hazardous and claiming many lives worldwide. Everyone seems to have a common reason for taking various efforts which is survival, matters most to keep moving in mid of this misery and sorrowful situation. Government and authorities have taken numerous steps to ensure the safety of the public wherever they are by fastening the rules and regulations. Certain requirements became mandatory and serious penances thrown to those who fail to oblige them. Many misconceptions arise and debated concerning the strict regulations without insight about the benefit. The reason is not to punish anyone nor earn from the fine received but to ensure safety and prevent the disease from spreading widely. Basic screening at shops and outlets became a mandatory requirement where the keeper would arrange some basic screening for the patrons such as temperature screening , their personal details and simple declaration to be carried out before entering into the premises.The patrons are obliged to cooperate with the keeper in order to receive the services otherwise they will be punished or prohibited from receiving the services. The local municipal officers or police officers are responsible to check on these practices on a regular basis.
Many appear against this new culture, who seem to oppose and blindly influence others without a
concrete understanding of the benefits of such requirements as follows:
- combat the emergence of new clusters
- effective identification of the patron if new clusters arise and an immediate alert sent to the patrons
- early identification such as advice to seek medical attention if has spiking of temperature
- risk stratification
- infuse awareness to the keeper
- the public understands their role and responsibility well
However, the harm should not be ignored while enthralling the goodness of such rules as follows:
- false identification to receive services
- certain people find it difficult to scan and record via a phone
- misusing people's identification such as phone number or email address
- many find not convenient as they are held by a long queue to undergo the process
- choose to seek online services instead present physically
Everything made with pros and cons so this requirement will never be in the exceptional list. Somehow we need to adapt and this culture may continue for some time or longer till this pandemic resolve. There are some ways that can be undertaken to overcome the cons as mentioned below:
- the public should be responsible and provide a true identification, a strict penance set and displayed at the premise as a reminder to who intend to give false identification or stealing identification
- keeper offer alternative methods for screening instead of recording in a phone such as a write manually in book or form
- be comfortable with online service at this moment to avoid close contact hence contract the illness
New normal or new standard of living was meant to keep us save from this deadly infection so we are responsible to stand along every effort set by the government to ensure our safety as an individual and public as a whole. This circumstances are unexpected but never be an impossible matter to curb provided we put our hands together to fight this invisible enemy.
The threat is the virus, not the people!
