Stroke never be a "newbie" term for both physicians and patients. Hypertension related strokes been causing debilitating health and mental issues for ages however the cases kept spiking despite numerous health measures undertaken by the health ministry. The awareness remains below average to many especially elderlies with a high risk of hypertension nor stroke or even young age person with a strong family history of both hypertension and stroke or someone whom totally ignorant of their lifestyle. High blood pressure will certainly cause stroke but how? Here are some reasons to explain in much simplified ways:
- high cholesterol causes occlusion of blood vessels running to the brain thus reduced blood flow and lead to a high-pressure event to the brain which causes a part of the brain dies and causes stroke
- extremely high blood pressure results in the amplification of vessels dilatation and causes blood vessels to rupture and bleeding in the brain which turned into a stroke
Many mislead by the symptoms of stroke which presumed to be a simple lethargy or low sugar when actually not! Listed below are some of the apparent symptoms that should never go unnoticed:
- body weakness
- slurring of speech
- loss /altered consciousness
- blurring of vision
- numbness
- giddiness
- loss of bladder or bowel control
- unable to walk
It is best to seek medical attention as soon as possible if this happens rather than surfing the internet to look up for diagnosis or trying to self medicate as this is not a joking scenario. However, prevention is always better than cure as the old saying. Mostly stroke happens due to ill lifestyle especially high blood pressure so it is best to take good care on this account. Some of the things that work on improving your blood pressure are:
- regular blood pressure monitoring
- keeping salt low in your delicious
- cardio type exercise or at least brisk walking
- stay away from smoking or smokers
- pick more fruits and vegetables while shopping
- route out any positive steps to remain stress-free
- take your medicine as instructed by your doctor, not by your heart
It is extremely painful to bound over two wheels or bed and depending on someone to carry yourself in daily matters. Yes, that is what stroke does when you do not live well!
